Text Content is all the search engines see. The single largest problem in web creation now is getting sufficient quantities of text content from clients!

The importance of web page text content, containing keywords about your business or mission, can't be stressed enough. Images mean absolutely nothing in a search - the bots see only a Filename and Alt Image Tag.

This goes without saying, graphics have great impact on web site image - just not on a search. Remember, before you can make that big impression with your visual image, you must be found in a search.

Text content is not an enhancement - it is "The Beef". Videos only become popular because of their Filenames and tagging, etc - all in live text!

This is the information highway - and information is only found by the crawlers if it is in live text characters. If you can't be found, you can't be seen. The answer is to reach a balance between the visual elements and the substance (content). See Web Page Yin & Yang

George Burns is a comedian - Google is not! If you fake it with them NOW - you will be out of the game - that simple! If you are among the many who think "content" is an "enhancement" you are in for a big shock. Canned content will get you canned.

Several successful media outfits are currently being labeled "content farms" - like Demand Media, Associated Content, Mahalo Cracked.com and Livestrong.

, pays ten or fifteen dollars to writers, for each "how to" article and will pop up page one for any search with "How To" in it (try it!). To survive as an eHow writer, you must crank out huge volume (very quickly) on a huge amount of subjects. Either they found minimum wage geniuses or they are scraping content from the web. Which do you think?
Whether Google is 100% right or just partly right about Demand Media, and the rest — The internet has turned into a big trash can, filled with insincere, worthless, bulk generated junk. A lot of the same misinformation gets copied from one source to the next.

Also affected are sites that use deceptive search tactics and deliver low quality content, or something different than the search. Most people reading this will not be affected. This is mostly large firms with programmers/hackers that do this with scripts and backend coding.
My favorite example of this is nextag.com, who will show up page one - whether they have what you search to not!
OK - You've been warned. If you are using copied content, get out your note pad and write something of your own, hire a writer, or disappear in the mist!

What Do Keywords Really Do?

There are two kinds of keywords - the kind found in the visible page copy, and the ones you can't see in the metafiles.

Keywords in the metafiles are a shortcut for the web bots - for Yahoo, Bing, Altavista and most other search engines it allows their agents to scan a short list of search words instead of having to read the whole page.

The keywords in the page copy are the "real" keywords, that the metafiles refer to. They are the words that best describe your site's mission. The ones in the metafile, again, are just a quick reference to these. If your site sells artichokes and you do not have copious mention of them on your site - you lose!

Whether for Google, Yahoo or BING, keywords are the key (sorry for the pun) to getting placed in the search results. They identify your product or service to the world.  The keywords in your metafiles (some people spell it meta files) must be in your text content. If they are in the metafiles and not in your page content your page rank goes down.

Keyword metafiles are page relative - not site relative. If it ain't on the page, it doesn't belong in the metafile!

Think of a Googlebot as a blind person and live text on a web site is Braille - the bots " feel" their way through your site. A graphic image file means nothing to a web bot unless it has an " alt" tag description on it.

Alt text no longer displays in modern browsers, you can see it if you click page properties.

Bots think he's Elmer Fudd because the alt text says so!

information  Alt Image Tags: They tell a blind bot about the image. They don't display in the newer browsers when you mouse over them, and are valuable as "Access"to the blind. They have some value in SEO, but won't make or break you.

Playboy Magazine works the opposite of the internet. Playboy: Without the pictures, no one would know about the articles On the internet, without the articles no one would know about the pictures  ,-]

Videos: Videos can only be found by search engines if they are wisely titled & "tagged" - with live text keywords. Web bots don't look at pictures and they don't watch videos! They do read a lot though!

2 - Wikipedia, Free Dictionary, Ency. Britanica, Local library, etc. Don't copy verbatim. Plagiarism is easily traceable online!

3 - Include RSS feeds that pertain to your business


If your ISP has PHP capability we can include an auto RSS feed that gets daily renewing content, relevant to your subject.

A "Q and A" FAQ's section can include lots of keyword-embedded text without taking up the whole landing page - click for an example.
